A LEYBURN-BASED accountancy firm have achieved ‘Chartered Accountancy Status’ after obtaining a Practising Certificate with the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).

James Clarkson joined the family firm as a school leaver in 2007. He completed the three year ACCA qualification in 2016 while combining his studies with work, then commenced the application process for a Practising Certificate in 2020. Dawn Clarkson, Co-Director at Clarksons, said: “It is very rewarding to see James obtain his Practicing Certificate from the ACCA; the whole team is immensely proud of him. James is home-grown talent, and it is a well-deserved achievement.”

Founded by Dawn in 2004, Clarksons has built up an excellent reputation with a growing client base ranging from sole traders, partnerships, companies and personal tax clients. Dawn received the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) Past President’s Award for 2019 in recognition of her outstanding contribution to the accountancy profession over the last 20 years.

Clarksons is a small, friendly team of eight staff who all live locally and have either gained or are training through the AAT, ATT and ACCA. Clarksons prides itself in supporting local talent and is at present assisting two apprentices who are working towards their AAT qualifications. Of note, Clarksons will be welcoming applications for the position of Trainee Accounts Technician which will be advertised in mid-June.
